Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) Laguna Campus was once again recognized by the City Government of Santa Rosa as a Sustainable Development Partner during the GREEN Awards 2026, marking the University’s second consecutive year receiving the distinction.
Held on 17 July 2026 at the Santa Rosa City Multi-Purpose Complex, the GREEN (Guarantee the Restoration of the Environment and Our Ecological Niche) Awards Gala Night carried the theme, “Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future,” honoring individuals, organizations, businesses, industries, non-government organizations, and civic groups that have made significant contributions to environmental stewardship.
Campus Administrator Armando Tecson Jr. personally received the plaque of recognition on behalf of OLFU Laguna Campus during the ceremony.
As officially cited, OLFU was recognized for its exemplary contributions to the implementation of sustainable development projects in the City of Santa Rosa.
Among the University’s key initiatives are Laguna Lake clean-up drives, tree-planting activities, the installation of a rainwater collection system, and the adoption of solar panels across the campus. Spearheaded by the Office of Community Extension (OCE), these initiatives support local conservation efforts while promoting sustainable campus water management, responsible resource use, renewable energy, and collaborative environmental action.
Collectively, these initiatives advance several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation through the implementation of the rainwater collection system and sustainable campus water management; SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy through the installation of solar panels; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by supporting local environmental sustainability; SDG 13: Climate Action through conservation and climate resilience initiatives; SDG 15: Life on Land through tree-planting and ecosystem restoration efforts; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through OLFU’s sustained collaboration with the City Government of Santa Rosa in advancing community-based environmental programs.
The recognition highlights OLFU Laguna’s continued commitment to advancing the City of Santa Rosa’s sustainability initiatives while reinforcing the University’s role as a partner in building more resilient, environmentally responsible, and future-ready communities.
