Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) maritime cadets are advancing toward professional shipboard careers through industry screening, specialized training, and cadetship programs facilitated by established maritime companies and agencies.
OLFU Cadets Complete Anglo-Eastern Training and CadetPlus Programme
Following examinations and interviews conducted by Anglo-Eastern, three OLFU Engine Cadets—E/C Richmond Baybayon, E/C John Tyron Onyot, and E/C Jim Hendrix Martin—were selected for the company’s two-month Enhancement Program to strengthen their foundational knowledge and competencies for future onboard deployment.
The first month focused on Physics and Mathematics, while the second covered basic Engineering principles and applications. The trainees underwent continuous assessments and performance evaluations, with Anglo-Eastern covering their accommodation, meals, and lodging.
After completing the Enhancement Program, the remaining candidates were given the opportunity to join the two-week CadetPlus Programme at NYK Training Academy, sponsored by SMOU Wavelink.
The intensive training focused on safety, discipline, and operational readiness for onboard deployment. The trainees participated as representatives of Anglo-Eastern and OLFU. As of writing, onboarding and deployment under Anglo-Eastern are ongoing.
OLFU Cadets Secure SK Shipping LNG Deployment via Abosta
Six OLFU College of Maritime Education cadets have secured upcoming deployment with SK Shipping through Abosta Shipmanagement Corporation after passing a comprehensive examination and subsequent interviews.
The successful cadets are Deck Cadets Christian Loie Rubio, Zyrom Presbitero Ramos, and Christian Jay Chavez, and Engine Cadets Rovie Aejay Gutay, Kyle Fernan Cruz Ignacio, and Neil Ashley Bautista Lima.
Established in October 1996, Abosta Shipmanagement Corporation is a Philippine-based crew and ship management company dedicated to supplying highly competent Filipino seafarers to international shipowners. Its industry partner, SK Shipping, is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, and specializes in resource transport. It currently operates a controlled fleet of 12 ships and is the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipping company in Korea.
The six cadets are scheduled to board their assigned SK Shipping LNG vessels by September 2026, providing them with hands-on experience at sea and opportunities to apply their maritime knowledge and technical skills in the international shipping industry.
OLFU Engine Cadets Join Dynacom Tankers Program via Intercrew
Two OLFU Engine Cadets, Vince Daniel Bulalacao and Ronmel Benedict Barceta, have earned places in the Dynacom Tankers Cadetship Program through Intercrew Philippines Agency, Inc. after successfully passing the examination.
As Batch 2026 cadets, they were introduced to the company’s culture, core values, and professional standards expected of future maritime officers.
Intercrew Philippines Agency, Inc. is a manning agency duly licensed and authorized by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to engage in ship crew manning for international ocean-going vessels and the recruitment of shipboard personnel.
Its industry partner, Dynacom Tankers Management Ltd., is a Greece-based global ship manager founded in 1991 that specializes in modern tanker vessels. It manages 73 crude oil and clean oil product tankers and has an additional 54 vessels on order.
As the two cadets prepare for their first onboard assignments aboard Dynacom Tankers vessels, they move toward a professional journey centered on learning, discipline, leadership, and maritime excellence.
These opportunities also highlight OLFU’s continuing efforts to support its maritime cadets beyond the classroom. Through sustained partnerships and discussions with maritime agencies and industry partners, the University helps connect its cadets to appropriate training programs and deployment opportunities as they prepare for their careers at sea.
