Two members of the esteemed faculty of the College of Dentistry (COD) at Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) recently contributed original locally based research on dental health which earned the nod of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA).
COD’s Dr. Liel Ma. Theresa Plantig and Dr. Raynand Dimaano vied for excellence during the 114th Philippine Dental Association Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions E-poster Presentation and Competition on 10 May 2023.
Under the Professional-Original Research Paper Category, Plantig examined a demographic in Metro Manila covering a perennial dental health issue in her study “Knowledge and acceptance of Filipino parents and guardians on pits and fissure sealants and fluoride varnishes as preventive measures for dental caries in an underprivileged community in Metro Manila.”
On the other hand, Dr. Dimaano investigated an observational academic resource through his paper, “Filipino mothers’ knowledge and practices toward infant oral health care: A cross-sectional study.”
As a result, Plantig was hailed second placer while Dimaano clinched the third place.
In an earlier statement, OLFU acknowledged the accomplishment of both faculty members that further drives the institution’s vision to be a global trailblazer of quality and innovative research.
