After fearlessly demonstrating their powerful strikes and kicks, sportswomen of the Our Lady of Fatima University Shotokan Karate Club (OLFU-SKC) triumphantly earned awards at the 5th Women’s Martial Arts Karate Festival held last October 23 to 25. 2018 at Harrison Plaza, City of Manila.
Accompanied by their coach Alberto M. Alvarez, members of the club competed on the first day’s Karate-do events, and the following athletes were declared as medalists: Nicole Ann Hiponia – SILVER (18 years old Women’s Advance Kata); April Rose Alcoba – SILVER (18 years old and above Women’s Kumite +68kg), and Jessa Mae Bucabal – BRONZE (18 years old and above Women’s Kumite +68kg).
In total, OLFU-SKC took home three medals from the said sporting events. The University shares in the joy of the victors and their team.
