22 October 2016, Valenzuela, Metro Manila- Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) staged its 3rd in a series of national conferences, intending to serve as channel for change amongst professionals who share the university’s aim to address prevailing issues relative to health, business and education.
Organized by OLFU’s Social Cluster Committee, the conference entitled, “The 1st National Conference on the Rise of ASEAN Integration” focused on the theme— “The ASEAN Integration: Its Challenges in the Academe and Services Sector in the 21st Century”. The said committee consists of a collaboration between four Colleges, namely: Education, Arts and Sciences, Maritime Education and Criminal Justice.
- Held at OLFU’s AMS Auditorium, the conference sought to:Increase awareness of the K to 12 Curriculum Program of the Philippines as the way to address the Filipino graduates’ unpreparedness for work, readiness for college and competitiveness in the global market relative to ASEAN Integration;
- Address the challenge of globalization that goes with multicultural education, and
Collaborate with higher education leaders in the alignment of the 21st century education system that prepares students, workers and citizens to become globally competitive.
430 delegates participated in the event, consisting of OLFU undergraduate and graduate students, alumni and faculty members, as well as external delegates such as school heads, teachers and practitioners in the fields of maritime education and criminology.
